1960s Korean Vintage Wallpaper — Yunghwan (original / River Rocks)

Yunghwan was discovered in a 1960s hanok in Hwado-myeon, Ganghwa Island. Its structure reflects the international shift that reshaped interior decoration after World War II: the Victorian realistic floral giving way to the flat, graphic botanical. Leaves are reduced to outline and rhythm; stems and fruit to simple repeated forms. The all-over composition scatters plant motifs irregularly across the surface rather than arranging them on a grid. What makes this wallpaper distinctive is its two-layer ground: a dense field of tiny fruit-shaped motifs covers the entire paper surface, reading as a pointillist texture from a distance and revealing its berry-like form only on close approach. Above this textured ground, simplified leaf shapes float freely — a Korean printing industry interpretation of the semi-abstract modernist botanical that was sweeping Scandinavian and Western interior design in the late 1950s and early 1960s. GOSATE’s reproduction digitally restores the original pattern, printed on premium non-woven base paper manufactured in Sweden. Available in two colorways: Original and River Rocks.   Roll size : 50cm by 10M Material : Non-woven paper Made in Sweden, Designed in Korea
