1960s Korean Vintage Wallpaper — Jinho (original / Diopside Blue)

Jinho was discovered in a 1960s hanok in Hwado-myeon, Ganghwa Island. It is a border wallpaper designed for the lower section of the ondol(traditional floor heating system) room wall — the zone most exposed to hand marks and floor-cleaning in Korean seated daily life. Its central structure is a large hatched diamond surrounded by four small square dots, forming a tight X-shaped diaper grid that leaves no ground visible between repeats. The layering is where the pattern earns its depth: a large diamond grid overlaid with elongated small yellow rectangles, with fine red dots scattered across the interior — three separate printed elements combining to give flat paper the visual weight of a thick-woven textile. The dense pattern also served a practical function: its visual complexity naturally absorbed and camouflaged the dirt and wear that accumulated at the base of walls in everyday Korean domestic life. The pattern’s lineage crosses three traditions — the 18th–19th century Western diaper grid, Japanese printing networks, and the Korean decorative sensibility that received and transformed both. GOSATE’s reproduction digitally restores the original pattern, printed on premium non-woven base paper manufactured in Sweden. Available in two colorways: Original and Diopside Blue.   Roll size : 50cm by 10M Material : Non-woven paper Made in Sweden, Designed in Korea
