1960s Korean Vintage Wallpaper — Jihoon (original / blossom dye)
Jihoon was discovered in a 1937 hanok in Ganggyeong, South Chungcheong Province. The original wallpaper’s all-over grape vine pattern was printed in a single ink color, yet achieves the illusion of at least three tonal registers through hatching and double-outline technique — giving flat paper the visual quality of an embossed surface. The grape carries two lineages simultaneously: the Western allegorical vine of abundance and festivity, and the Korean tradition of grapes as an auspicious motif for fertility and prosperity. The celadon-green palette of the original places it in the Korean dancheong color world rather than any Western equivalent. Complete your own space with a vintage pattern that tells a story.
